What kind of photography do you do?

Mathieson & Hewitt primarily offers services tailored to meet the needs of corporate clients. We also offer services for families, models, actors, and artists.  Our services include:

Portraiture

Our studio specializes in portrait photography, including individual portraits, family portraits, corporate headshots, lifestyle portraits, and graduation photos. Graduation caps and gowns are available for use at no extra cost.

Corporate Headshots

We capture professional portraits of employees, executives, and team members for use in corporate websites, marketing materials, and professional profiles. This includes environmental portraits, where individuals or teams are photographed in their workplace or a relevant setting that reflects their professional roles and industry.

Product Photography

This involves capturing high-quality images of products for use in catalogs, e-commerce websites, advertising, and promotional materials.

Event Photography

We can cover corporate and family events such as conferences, trade shows, seminars, and celebrations. We capture key moments, candid shots, and group photos to document the event.

Architectural and Interior Photography

We can photograph office spaces, commercial properties, and architectural designs. We highlight the aesthetics, functionality, and unique features of buildings for promotional purposes.

How long is the session?

In-studio headshot sessions are usually 30 minutes and family portraits start at 45 minutes.

Do you do off-site sessions?

Sessions can take place in our studio or we can travel to a location of your choice. A set-up fee is applied to all off-site sessions. 

Do you take passport photos?

Yes, passport/visa and other ID photos are a walk-in service. It takes about 10 minutes to receive the finished product. Prints and digital copies are available for purchase. We offer passport sessions for babies as well.

What retouch services do you offer?

All photography sessions include retouching. We also offer photoshop services for images that are not taken at our studio and restoration services for damaged photos.

Do you offer printing and framing services?

Yes, we offer a variety of custom printing and framing services. Family portrait packages include the option to order prints, high resolution digitals, or both. Christmas card packages are available seasonally.

Do you keep photos on file?

Yes, we keep all purchased images and runner-up selections on file. Images from the year 2000 onward can be retrieved upon request. Please note an archive fee of $40 may apply.

Can I bring my pet?

Four-legged family members are welcome to join family portrait sessions. Let us know if you’d like to include your pet when booking.


How do I find you?

Where are you located?

We are located in the core of downtown Calgary. You can find us on the first level of Bow Valley Square. Our address is Suite 120, 205 5th Ave SW.  

What are your hours?

We are open Monday to Friday from 9AM to 5PM and are closed on all statutory holidays, weekend and evening appointments are available upon request (excluding passport sessions). After hour sessions require a 50% deposit.

Is there parking near you?

Street parking is often available during select times. Underground parking can be accessed from the 5th Ave Bow Valley Square parkade entrance. A paid parking lot can be accessed off of 6th Ave and 2nd street SW. We are also a short walking distance from WB 1st street SW and EB 3rd street SW LRT stations.


How do I prepare for my session?

What should I wear?

For business headshots most of our clients wear a lighter shirt and a darker jacket, however there is a lot of room for variance. We recommend checking guidelines with your company as some employers have a dress code for bios. 

For family sessions it’s a good idea to coordinate clothing styles and colors with other members of the group. We suggest taking a look at our services page or social media pages for reference. We can be found on Instagram or Facebook @mhphotoyyc.

Do you have a place to change?

Yes, we have a spacious bathroom inside our studio that can be utilized as a change room. Some hair products are available for final touch-ups.

Do you have a makeup artist or hair stylist?

Our studio does not work directly with hair stylists or makeup artists, however there are businesses within walking distance that offer these services. There is a hair salon and barber shop located in Bow Valley Square and makeup artists located in the CORE shopping mall. 

All final images also include retouching, specific digital touch-ups can be requested.


Receiving the final product

How do I select my photo?

Selections are made at session with the help of one of our photographers. Web galleries are also available for a $40 fee if you prefer to review and select the photos post-session.

How and when do I get the final image?

Final high-resolution images are sent electronically via e-mail. There is a two-day turnaround for individual portraits. Larger bookings can take up to two weeks to finalize.


Payment

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept credit card, interac debit and e-transfer, EFT, and cash for payment.

Is a deposit needed?

Most sessions do not necessitate a deposit. Deposits are only required for family sessions, after hour bookings, and print/framing orders.

Do you have gift certificates?

Gift certificates for all services are available for purchase in-studio.
