Appearance Guidelines
for Business Portraiture Individual Business
Portraits ----•
Darker suit jackets with light or white shirts or blouses generally
look best for traditional business portraits. Brighter colours or
bold patterns may detract from a your face, so keep these to a minimum. ----•
If you're seeking a more casual or unique look, we recommend booking
a time for a planning meeting before the portrait session so we can
discuss your ideas. If possible, bring a picture showing the kind
of style you would like. ----•
For women, bring hairspray, minimize reflective jewelry, and bring
any cosmetics (a natural lipstick and powder are most essential) you
may require to the photo session ----•
For men, if you are prone to the "5 o'clock shadow", schedule
your session earlier in the day, or bring your razor (please arrive
a bit early). ----•
If you have an oily complexion, give your face a wash with warm (not
hot) water before your session to reduce glare (taking care not to
water-spot clothing). ----•
Consider when you are most comfortable with your hair - schedule your
portrait either the day of, or two weeks after, a fresh hair cut. ----•
If you intend to wear eyeglasses in your portrait, and if you have
a strong correction, consider borrowing empty frames from your optometrist
to ensure clear eye contact. Group Business Portraits ----•
Have a chat with the other people who will be in the group portrait
- try to plan to wear similar clothing tones (i.e. everyone should
wear either all dark or all light tones). ----•
Make sure you are all at the same level of formality - either all
casual or all in business attire. |
