It all began in 1998, when Mathieson & Hewitt began the transformation into the world of digital technology. The company has not looked back since, offering a broad range of digital photographic services among the finest in Canada.

While under the lights of Mathieson & Hewitt's studio, the photography equipment and techniques initially seem very much like those in a traditional studio. It's not until the client views a nearby computer screen that the advantages of digital technology truly come to light. By showing the client previews of images as they are taken, the staff at Mathieson & Hewitt encourages client feedback throughout the session on body positions, facial expressions, and overall appearance. This way, the client doesn't leave the session until he or she is completely comfortable with the quality of the image.

Once the client chooses a favorite photo, remarkable editing can be done to remove stray hairs, blemishes, a 5 o'clock shadow, or even change eye color! If requested, the digital image can be e-mailed in the same day to the client in order to post it onto a web site, insert it into a brochure or e-mail it to a significant other for approval.

Mathieson & Hewitt's digital capabilities are not limited to the confines of the studio. Through the aid of a laptop computer, the entire digital photography system becomes mobile meaning images can be captured of corporate events, work places, products, or landscapes.

The benefits of digital imagery multiply as more subjects are involved in the shot. For instance, in large-group portraits, often someone is blinking, or a person is missing altogether. What does Mathieson & Hewitt do? By using the opened eyes from a previous shot, a blinker's eyes are corrected. For the missing person, an individual portrait can be taken later on and added in. This is all possible through the magic of digital photography!

Mathieson & Hewitt can produce long-lasting photographic prints from digital files that are as archival as traditional photographic prints from film. Can a digital image still be made as large as an image shot on film? Absolutely - Mathieson & Hewitt enlarges images up to 50" x 50" with no detectable loss in image quality.

Today, Mathieson & Hewitt's transformation into the world of digital imaging means every client can achieve the best possible image - quickly and flawlessly.
